Moral was already low from the destruction of Nova-Prospect for the Combine soldiers but as soon as the citadel was crippled and its core became unstable the Soldiers manning these stations deserted their outposts for the coast. Exit 17 would have been no different but the sergeant thought it would be safer to stay put and wait for evac. The group began to infight over whether to stay or not and became violent. Some rebels entered the centre as well and began to fight. It became a every-man-for-themselves free-for-all and your wrapped up in it all.
