Description

Hello everyone, This is a project that Mystyc Cheez and I have worked on over several years, so I wanted to give a bit of background. Development of this map began around mid-2016, back when my community and I were running pugs and scrimmages almost every night—just your standard competitive Counter-Strike grind. A lot of us enjoyed playing Nuke, but we always felt it had some lingering balance issues. Over time, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive—what eventually became Counter-Strike 2—introduced several changes to Nuke. Some of those changes worked well, others… less so. That’s where this project really took shape. Cheez and I created multiple iterations of Nuke, refining and reworking it on and off over the years. We borrowed ideas from official updates where it made sense, and made our own adjustments where we felt improvements were needed. One thing you’ll likely notice in this version is its heavier visual inspiration from Half-Life. You’ll see elements reminiscent of chapters like Office Complex, Blast Pit, Surface Tension, Forget About Freeman, and Lambda Core—all of that was intentional. I’ve always loved Half-Life’s distinct visual style, and considering that Nuke has always leaned a bit into that aesthetic anyway, it felt like a natural direction to push further. Around 2023, our group stopped scrimming regularly, and development on the map slowed to a halt. Recently, a few local NA teams came across the map on my server and asked for a copy. That seemed like a good enough reason to finally release it publicly on GameBanana. So, this is likely the final update of this version: de_gsu_nuke_rc2. I wouldn’t call it a perfect or “finished” product, but it has been competitively tested and, more importantly, it’s fun. I’m not claiming it’s the next dust2—but if even a few of you enjoy playing it as much as we did making it, I’d call that a success.—Slade Original source: https://gamebanana.com/mods/672661 Note: This map was automatically uploaded by a bot.
